2000s Nostalgia

Tom Anderson, who co-founded the company in 2003, was the default friend for MySpace users and was colloquially referred to as "Tom from Myspace."

John Antioco, CEO of Blockbuster Video, received the offer and disregarded it as a joke. At the time, Netflix was having financial problems when the dot-com bubble burst. 

The eventual success of Netflix led to the demise of the once dominant Blockbuster chain.

The "Malice at the Palace" started with less than a minute to go in regulation in a game between the Detroit Pistons and the Indiana Pacers. An on-court scuffle led to a fan throwing a drink at Pacers forward Ron Artest, which led to Artest storming the stands. After order was achieved, nine players were suspended, and five fans were banned for life from Detroit home games.

Motorola branded the Razr line of phones in 2004 as a "fashion" phone, with iTunes compatibility added in 2005. The V3 model of the Razr sold more than 130 million units, making it the best-selling clamshell phone of all time.

America Online purchased the media conglomerate Time Warner for $164 million in 2000.  It is the largest corporate merger in U.S. history and is the second largest merger worldwide behind the Vodafone/Mannesmann merger, also in 2000.
