Analog Audio

The 8-track tape was a popular audio format from the mid-1960s to the late 1980s, particularly in the automotive and portable listening markets. Unlike vinyl records, 8-track tapes were encased in plastic shells and internally looped, enabling music to continuously play without flipping the tape. 

Bruce Springsteen's 1984 album "Born in the U.S.A." features one of the most iconic album covers in music history. The album, which became one of Springsteen's greatest commercial successes, includes blue-collar anthems that resonate with millions of Americans.

In 1877, Thomas Edison invented the phonograph, a groundbreaking device that recorded and reproduced sound. The phonograph used a tinfoil wrapped cylinder and a stylus to etch sound vibrations onto the foil, making it the first device to play back recorded sound.

Japanese conglomerate Sony revolutionized the music industry with the introduction of the Walkman in 1979. The iconic device was a game-changer, allowing people to listen to music on the go for the first time. More than 200 million of the portable music units were sold over the following three decades.
