Famous Cities, Wrong Capitals

Sacramento is indeed the capital of California.

Chicago is a major midwestern city in Illinois, however its capital is Springfield.

Detroit is a major city in Michigan, but its capital is Lansing.

And New York City is one of the most famous cities in the world, however New York state's capital is Albany.

Rio de Janeiro, often referred to simply as "Rio", is world-renowned for its stunning beaches like Copacabana and Ipanema and its Carnaval festivities, which are considered among the largest in the world.

Although it's not the capital of Brazil, Brasília holds that title, Rio is famous for its breathtaking landscape that includes the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue and Sugarloaf Mountain. 

Shanghai is not only the most populous urban area in China but also one of the largest cities in the world by population. It is a global financial hub and is known for its modern skyline, symbolized by the iconic Oriental Pearl Tower.

China's actual capital city is Beijing.

The CN Tower, located in Toronto, Canada, was completed in 1976 and stands at 553.3 meters (1,815 feet), making it one of the tallest free-standing structures in the world. Initially built by the Canadian National Railway Company, the CN Tower features an observation deck offering stunning views of the city and Lake Ontario. 

Canada's capital city Ottawa is located nearly 300 miles away.

Manchester is the United Kingdom's third-largest city and is known for its rich industrial history as well as for being a hub of arts and culture. Significantly, Manchester is home to two of the most famous football clubs in the world, Manchester United and Manchester City, both of which compete regularly in the English Premier League.

London is England's capital.
