Just One Oscar Nomination

Nominations in the supporting acting categories for Toni Collette and Haley Joel Osment were among the (fittingly) six Oscar nods received by "The Sixth Sense" (1999). For the two actors, it remains their only nominations to date.

Having starred in two of the biggest movie franchises of all time, Harrison Ford entered the Guinness Book of Records in 2016 as the "Highest Grossing Actor of All Time." However, box office rarely translates to Oscar nominations, and Ford has scored just one–for 1985's "Witness."

Peter Finch and Heath Ledger both won Oscars posthumously on their second nominations. Ralph Richardson was nominated twice (the second time posthumously), but didn't win either time.

Despite amassing a stellar body of work in just a few years, Chadwick Boseman was Oscar nominated just once, receiving a nod for "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom," less than seven months after his death in 2020.

Nine years after winning the Oscar for her role as June Carter Cash in 2005's "Walk the Line," Reese Witherspoon picked up a second nomination for portraying another real-life person, Cheryl Strayed, in 2014's "Wild."

In the Best Actress category, both Michelle Williams and Cate Blanchett are previous nominees. In the Best Supporting Actor category, Judd Hirsch picked up his second nomination. And in the Best Supporting Actress category, Angela Bassett has been nominated once before. However, all of the Best Actor nominees (Austin Butler, Colin Farrell, Brendan Fraser, Paul Mescal, and Bill Nighy) are first-timers.
