Hieroglyphics were a formal writing system used in ancient Egypt that combined logographic and alphabetic symbols. The symbols were used for both sacred and secular purposes and describe historical events throughout the different reigns of Egypt's Pharaohs.

One of the world's most famous landmarks, Stonehenge is a prehistoric structure located in Wiltshire, England. Researchers believe that the monument was built by Neolithic people indigenous to the British Isle from 3000 BC to 2000 BC. It has been suggested that the iconic site was used for ceremonial or astronomical purposes, serving as a monument that aligns with the solstices. 

Chichén Itzá is one of the most famous Mayan archaeological sites located in Mexico. Another architectural marvel that aligns with astronomical events, a shadow appears to resemble a serpent descending the steps during equinoxes. Climbing the pyramid has been prohibited since 2008 to protect the structure from wear and tear.

The 15th century city of Machu Picchu is often confused with the legendary El Dorado, but it is actually an archaeological site of the Inca Empire and offers breathtaking views high in the Andes Mountains.

"The Mummy" (1999), starring Brendan Fraser as charismatic adventurer Rick O'Connell, mixes adventure, horror, and humor as the treasure hunter and his team accidentally awaken Imhotep, an Ancient Egyptian high priest with supernatural powers.

The movie spawned two sequels and the spinoff franchise "The Scorpion King" starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
