The Rolling Stones released "Sticky Fingers" in April of 1971 and the original Andy Warhol designed cover featured an actual working zipper. Retailers began to complain that the zipper was damaging vinyl copies of the record and the cover was expensive to produce so subsequent pressings feature just the photograph of the jeans.

Liz Phair said her 1993 double album, "Exile in Guyville"-- about the challenges of being a female artist in the male dominated Chicago music scene -- is a song-by-song response to the Rolling Stones' "Exile on Main Street." 

Rolling Stone Magazine's 2020 list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time ranked "Exile in Guyville" at #56.

Tupac Shakur recorded 1995's "Me Against the World" following a near-fatal shooting in New York. Its songs reflect his new perspective after surviving the shooting and resulted in what many consider to be his best album.

The 2017 limited-edition vinyl of Katy Perry's "Witness" was packaged with an alternate cover, featuring a more recognizable image of Katy Perry, and was sold exclusively at Urban Outfitters.

The 1966 album "Revolver" marks a huge leap forward for the Beatles with regards to their recording methods. The album contains backwards guitar parts, tape loops, sound effects, sitar, and other psychedelic aspects and required three hundred hours of studio time over three months to record.
