 The multi-sport endurance race known as a triathlon consists of swimming, cycling, and running over various distances.

A biathlon, not a triathlon, combines cross-country skiing and rifle shooting. 

A "fortnight" is a unit of time equal to fourteen days. The term comes from the Old English word "fēowertyne niht", or "fourteen nights." Although not commonly used in all countries today, it remains in regular use in British English and in sports such as rugby, where tournaments often last two weeks.

An octopus has three hearts, blue blood, and one central brain, along with eight "mini brains" located in each arm.

The numbers on the opposite faces of a standard six-sided die always add up to seven. So, the 1 is opposite the 6, the 2 is opposite the 5, and the 3 is opposite the 4. Given this, when you add up the dots on all the faces of a single die (1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6), you get 21.

Thus a total of 42 dots on two six-sided dice, a number often celebrated as "The Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything" from Douglas Adams's "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy"!

Denver, Colorado, is known as the "Mile High City" because its official elevation is exactly one mile (5,280 feet) above sea level. Because the air is less dense at this height, athletes often train in Denver to increase their red blood cell count. 

The thinner air also makes golf balls fly farther and cookies bake differently!
