The Trivia is Lava

While "lava" and "magma" are both types of molten rock, lava refers to molten rock that has erupted onto the earth's surface. Magma, in contrast, is still underground, deep within the Earth's crust.

The word "volcano" stems from "Vulcan", the Roman god of fire. Vulcan was revered as the god of blacksmithing, metalworking, and craftsmen, and his mythical hammer was believed to cause eruptions. Ancient Romans believed the island of Vulcano in Italy was the chimney of Vulcan's forge. 

Covering a massive 5,271 square kilometers (2,035 square miles), Mauna Loa is situated in the U.S. state of Hawaii and is renowned as the Earth's largest active volcano. A recent eruption occurred in November 2022, showcasing the volcano's immense power and activity.

In 79 AD, the ancient Roman city of Pompeii suffered a catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius that led to its burial in volcanic ash. This tragic event preserved Pompeii in remarkable detail, and archaeologists have uncovered buildings, artifacts, and casts of people and animals caught in their final moments, preserved in ash.

The "Ring of Fire" is a horseshoe-shaped area in the basin of the Pacific Ocean where a large number of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions occur. Around 40,000 kilometers (25,000 miles) long and containing 452 volcanoes, the ring is home to some of the planet's most famous volcanoes, such as Mount St. Helens, Krakatoa, and Mount Fuji.
