Things in Threes

The mascot trio of Snap, Crackle, and Pop first appeared on Rice Krispies boxes in 1933. The characters' names are derived from the sounds the cereal makes when milk is added, a phenomenon sometimes referred to in advertising and homes as the cereal "tingling."

Originally from England, the classic fairy tale of "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" is about a little girl who stumbles upon the house of three bears: Papa Bear, Mama Bear, and Baby Bear. In her adventure, she samples their porridge, tries out their chairs, and naps in their beds, with each experience teaching her about moderation and consequences.

In the classic fable, three pigs build houses made of different materials, all hoping to withstand destruction by the Big Bad Wolf. The first pig builds a house of straw, the second pig builds one of sticks, both of which the wolf blows down, and the third pig builds a house made of bricks that withstands the efforts of the wolf and saves the three pigs.

On the traditional color wheel, the three secondary colors are purple, green, and orange, which come from mixing the primary color red, yellow, and blue.

The color pink is actually just a tint of red created by combining red and white.

Formed in Houston, Texas, and originally named Girl's Tyme, Destiny's Child was one of the most successful girl groups of all time. The group rose to fame in the late 1990s, selling over 60 million records worldwide. The song "Say My Name" earned the group two Grammy Awards in 2001.
