Val Kilmer Tribute

Val Kilmer originally didn’t want the role of Tom "Iceman" Kazanksy but changed his mind after thinking about the potential success of the film.

Kilmer reprised his role as "Iceman" in 2022 for the "Top Gun" sequel "Top Gun: Maverick".

Val Kilmer did all of his own singing in "The Doors" (1991) and was so convincing that even Jim Morrison’s actual bandmates, who consulted on the film, were stunned.

It was reported that Kilmer arrived to the audition for the part in a 1960s convertible, The Doors music blaring, along with no shoes or shirt.

Val Kilmer assumed the part of Batman in "Batman Forever" (1995) after Michael Keaton, who played the superhero in "Batman" (1989) and "Batman Returns" (1992) dropped out for a third film over creative differences.

Following several stage acting stints, Val Kilmer's big film break came when he received top billing in the comedy spoof of spy movies "Top Secret!" (1984), in which he played an American rock and roll star.

Kilmer sang all the songs in the film and released an album under the film character's name, "Nick Rivers".

Val Kilmer was accepted into Juilliard School's Drama Division during the summer session of 1977. Notably, at 17 years old, Kilmer became the youngest person, at the time, ever to be accepted into Juilliard’s Drama Division, one of the most prestigious theater schools in the world.
