Woodstock 1969

The official name of the legendary 1969 festival is the "Woodstock Music & Art Fair." Held in Bethel, New York, the event became a pivotal moment in music history, drawing hundreds of thousands of attendees despite being originally planned for only 50,000. 

Despite earlier plans to host the festival elsewhere, logistical issues led to the final setting of Max Yasgur's 600-acre dairy farm in Bethel, New York. The event was held between August 15 to 18, 1969, and attracted over 400,000 people.

Jimi Hendrix's groundbreaking electric guitar rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" at the Woodstock Music and Art Fair in 1969 remains one of the most iconic performances in rock history. Taking the stage as the festival's final act, Hendrix's freeform interpretation captured the chaotic and transformative spirit of the era.

Creedence Clearwater Revival was the first act to sign a contract to play at the historic Woodstock Festival held in 1969. The band, though extremely popular at the time with hits like "Bad Moon Rising" and "Proud Mary," were given a 12:30 a.m. start time and were omitted from the 1970 "Woodstock" film.

The Who, one of the most influential British rock bands, were instrumental in defining the concept of the rock opera with the 1969 album "Tommy". This double album narrates the story of a "deaf, dumb, and blind boy" who gains fame through his pinball talents and ventures towards enlightenment.
