Year in Review 2025: In Memoriam

The champion boxer famously endorsed the "George Foreman Grill", which became immensely popular in the late 1990s. The grill could "knock out the fat" due to the incline of its cooking surface which allowed excess grease to run off. 

Foreman passed away in February 2025, at age 76.

Val Kilmer starred as Batman in the 1995 film "Batman Forever". Kilmer's acting performances included a diverse range of roles such as "Top Gun" (1986) and "The Doors" (1991). 

Kilmer died from pneumonia at the age of 65 in April 2025 following a ten-year battle with throat cancer.

Ace Frehley is best known for his onstage persona, "The Spaceman" and as the founding lead guitarist of Kiss, a rock band recognized for elaborate makeup and stage outfits. 

Frehley suffered a fall in September 2025, and died at the age of 74 from a brain bleed two weeks later, on October 16.

Set in a fictional Washington town, the 1990s TV drama "Twin Peaks" was created by the legendary filmmaker David Lynch, along with Mark Frost. It aired initially from 1990 to 1991 and became a cultural phenomenon for its unique blend of mystery, horror, and quirky humor.

Lynch suffered from emphysema and COPD and died in February 2025 at the age of 78.

Gene Hackman famously portrayed Lex Luthor, the arch-villain of Superman, in the "Superman" film series. His first appearance as the "Man of Steel's" nemesis began in 1978, with "Superman: The Movie".

In February 2025, Hackman, suffering from Alzheimer's disease, passed away in his home several days after his wife, who was his main caretaker, also died in the home. He was 85 years of age.
